How to Backup and Restore Email in Thunderbird

Step One

Right click on the folder list and select New Folder from the menu.

Step Two

Name the folder Spam and click OK.

Step Three

Select rules wizzard from the tools menu.

Step Four

A dialog like the one shown below will appear. Click the New button.

Step Five

Select Start a blank rule and check messages when they arrive, then click next.

Step Six

Check with specific words in the subject. Then in the box below, click on where it says specific words.

Step Seven

A box like the one shown below will appear. Enter the phrase ***SPAM*** and then click Add. Then click Next.

Step Eight

Check move it to the specified folder. Then in the box below click where it says specified.

Step Nine

Select the folder called Spam that you created earlier, then click OK

Step Ten

Click Finish. You will return to the box shown below, except that now your new rule is listed.

If you like you can use the Run Now button to test your rule on the messages in your Inbox. The rule will be automatically applied to new messages as they are downloaded.
